The NFL is going to reduce suspensions fro marijuana violations. The are also going to raise the threshold for positive tests, which will mean that it takes a larger amount in the system to create a positive test. They are not allowing for exceptions for prescribed marijuana at this time, so boo for any players who want to use it to ease their aches and pains.
This isn’t going to help the Cleveland Browns, whose star receiver just got handed a season-long ban for testing positive for pot. The penalty reductions are not going to be retroactive. So, the league recognized that their policy was draconian and cruel, so much that a change was needed, but they’re not going to apply that change to the biggest player to be hurt by it. Oh well, sucks to live in Cleveland.
