Holy crap, it’s Firenado. A bourbon-fueled firenado.. and it’s terrifying. Apparently a Jim Bean Warehouse was struck by lightning, releasing thousands of gallons of poor, innocent bourbon into a nearby pond. More lighting struck the bourbon, lighting it on fire, and then a tornado passed over, sucking the flames upward nearly 100 feet. Jim Beam was fined $70,000 for pollution for the spilt bourbon that led fish kills. I’m holding a moment of silence for the lost spirits.

By popular request, I’m sharing my recipe for a Key Lime Pie Martini. The key is using real Key Lime juice. I created this myself, through lots of trial and error. I used everything in my bar, and then went shopping for more supplies. I went through a lot of different versions, and boy was that fun! Let me know if you have any suggestions or improvements for the Key Lime Pie Martini!
From the Cordell’s Bar
1 tsp of Key Lime Juice
- 1 cup of Whipped Cream
- 1 tsp liquid sugar (I used Sugar in the Raw Liquid Cane Sugar- you can substitute simple syrup)
- 1 tsp of Vanilla Syrup
- 1 tsp of Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 tsp Vanilla Vodka
- Lime Slices
- Graham Crackers
- Martini Glasses
Key Lime Pie Martini
Prepare the Glasses: Crumble the Graham Crackers into fine crumbles into the shallow dish. Use lime slices to moisten around the top edge of the glasses. Dip the glasses into the cracker crumbles to rim them with crumbs. That’s your “crust”. Set them aside (you can chill them if you want.)
- Mix the lime juice, vanilla vodka, Irish cream, syrup, sugar and whipped cream in the shaker, with about a cup of ice. Cap and shake vigorously until the shaker is frosted. Strain into the rimmed glass. Garnish with a slice of lime on the edge of the glass. (You can even sprinkle some graham cracker crumbs on top as additional garnish.)
Enjoy the Key Lime fruits of your labor
