You might recall that SkyNet is the program in Terminator will become sentient and cause the machines to rise up and try to kill their human overlords. Remember that… bad thing! So, the military is contracting with a company to create a weapon dubbed SkyNet, but good news- it’s actually a weapon that shoots nets into the sky instead of an artificial intelligence program that will wipe us all out! That program is likely already underway…
SkyNet is an attachment that will fit onto a shotgun and be used to shoot small drones out of the sky. Small drones are an increasing, inexpensive threat that enemies would deploy against us. So SkyNet may be a good thing… until it starts getting targeting programming, then learning at a geometric rate until it becomes sentient and the military tries to pull the plug, but it’s too late. SkyNet fights back. We are past August 4, 1997, so we should be ok, right?
I just read that China is importing and selling bottled air from Canada. That’s funny standing alone, but it’s even funnier since canned air was a joke in Mel Brooks’ sci-fi spoof classic, “Spaceballs”.
Also, I agree that we need to curb our pollution… but we MUST get China and other developing nations to clean up their acts as well!
“Broncos QB Peyton Manning will practice today, for the first time since being removed from a disastrous game against the Chiefs and put up on the shelf to let his various bruises and tears heal. He is not expected to play this weekend—Brock Osweiler is still the starter, but probably not for long.
Gary Kubiak made the announcement yesterday, and it’s a reflection more of Manning’s medical progress than of any hints toward the team’s plans. Manning’s body really started to break down this year, but it was a partially torn foot ligament that finally forced him out—amid a career-worst start to his season—and put him in a hard cast and then a walking boot for few weeks….”
Then I hear that the Reds have traded Todd Frazier, which may be the smart thing to do, but he’s so cool, and it just makes me sad that we can’t hang on to more than 2 players for more than an arbitration year. That’s baseball… we can’t have nice things, and that makes me sad, too… on top of losing Chapman last week. And Andy Dalton’s injury. And global warming, and Trump, and so on. At least Trump is entertaining.
Star Wars better not suck… I don’t think I can handle the disappointment! That said… I can’t wait. This will cheer the darkest of hearts…
The new Lego Helicarrier set got me thinking, what’s the first thing you would buy if you hit the lotto. Yes, obviously you make long term plans and structure investments, but I’m not talking about that. What’s the FIRST guilty pleasure you invest in?
The new album, Mandatory Fun! is #1 on the Billboard chart, but today also marks the 25 year anniversary of “UHF”, the screwball spoof movie Al made. It’s plot is all over the place, there’s reams of absurdist silliness, but darned if it isn’t funny. I can still quote it today, as can this guy from UPRoxx, who does a great break down of the top shows/movies that Al ran on his little UHF station. A U-H-F STATION!
