A Dragon Aurora- the Northern Lights Amaze again

NASA just released this picture of the Aurora Borealis over Iceland, appearing to take the shape of a dragon.

Good night for stargazing, as the moonrise of the Supermoon (aka Snow Moon) was spectacular tonight.

Remember, keep looking up!

Hey- Did that Volcano Just Smile at Me?

volcano-smileyYou aren’t seeing things…

This is a screen capture from footage taken by a Paradise Tours helicopter during an eruption last July. The still is cropped and rotated for the full effect of the grin!

So, I just realized, this…

VIDEO: Gator Jumps in an Airboat!

Tylor Hindery via facebook

Some tourists took an airboat tour in the Everglades, and probably thought they were pretty luck to pull right up next to an Alligator. They were streaming video live on Facebook when the tides turned. They probably reconsidered how lucky they were when the gator climbed into their boat. Fortunately, the Gator was able to get out and nobody was hurt!

It was clearly a harrowing experience for Tylor Hindery and the people he was with on the boat. But to get that on Facebook Live… priceless. via fox4now:

I have gone on several airboat tours, and they are a lot of fun.. until somebody gets eaten!

A Joke from Spaceballs has Come True

I just read that China is importing and selling bottled air from Canada. That’s funny standing alone, but it’s even funnier since canned air was a joke in Mel Brooks’ sci-fi spoof classic, “Spaceballs”.

Also, I agree that we need to curb our pollution… but we MUST get China and other developing nations to clean up their acts as well!

The Glass Bottom of the Willis (Sear’s) Tower Skydeck Cracked Last Night

Willis Tower Skydeck

Willis Tower Skydeck

Imagine you are standing on a pane of glass at the highest observation deck in the United States, at 412.5 meters, one of the highest observation decks in the world. Now, imagine that the glass you are standing on starts to crack as you and you family are looking down. Sounds scary, and it happened to a family last night as they were visiting the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in Chicago. Well, to be fair, there are actually three panes of glass flooring the observation deck, and the family was not in any danger. The top pane was designed to shatter if over-stressed. But I’m sure that didn’t keep any of the visitors from crapping their pants when it happened. Whoo-ee.

Cracked skydeck at Willis Tower

I prefer the controlled chaos of an amusement park ride. Check out the preview of the new Busch Gardens ride, Falcon’s Fury, if you haven’t seen it yet…
